EXPERIENCING THE NGONG HILLS NATURAL RESERVE
Big Hike and Beautiful Experience
A hike up to the highest point of the Ngong Hills, down to the coldest place in Kajiado County named Kona Baridi. You'll be walking for about 6-7 hours tops.
The Ngong Hills Hike in Kenya is an easy day trip from Nairobi and a spectacularly scenic walk. The Ngong Hills are a series of peaks, (the word means knuckles in the Maasai language) which are located at the northern tip of Kajiado County, about 25 km from Nairobi city.
There is a forest that covers an area of 3077.6 ha. It is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). The Ngong Hills has far-reaching views over the Rift Valley, Nairobi National Park, Mount Suswa volcano, the Nairobi skyline, and the Maasai land that reaches down to Lake Magadi. On a good day, you can see both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya from the Ngong Hills.
One of the best activities to add to the hiking is zip-lining at the Compass Hotel facility. The hotel offers archery too.
